Energy security and domestic gas supply in WA are critical issues which impact us all – businesses and households. You’ve heard me talk about this issue over the past couple of months, now watch our short video which explains our position.

Our other critical issue is of course the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS). It is now absolutely essential, for industries like ours, that the Government gets the balance right within the CPRS so that we can all respond to the challenge of climate change without sacrificing jobs. We hope the Government and Opposition can work cooperatively to achieve this when the CPRS legislation is reintroduced into parliament. Read more.

Earlier this month, at Australind Primary School in the South-West of WA, we launched a fantastic partnership with Bluearth which is helping instil lifelong healthy habits in school kids. It’s a really important initiative to assist the fight against childhood obesity and to keep our communities healthy. Read more.

And on October 1st, our annual ‘Month of Service’ kicks off. Volunteering and community engagement are important aspects of how we do business, and integral to how we live Alcoa values outside of the workplace. Each year, in Alcoa communities right around the world, we spend October encouraging and celebrating our dedicated volunteers. It’s fantastic getting involved - last year I helped paint a local fire station, and this year I’m again looking forward to making a real and lasting impact with hundreds of other Aussie Alcoans.
