Operations
Alcoa Australia Rolled Products has two operations at its Yennora site – an aluminium flat rolled products facility and Australia’s largest aluminium recycling facility.
Yennora produces aluminium sheet for use in food an beverage cans and bottle screw caps. The sheet is created by passing an aluminium ingot through a number of rolling stands, reducing its thickness to as little as 0.25mm.
At Yennora, around 70 per cent of the aluminium ingots used in the rolling process are produced on site during the recycling process.
The rolling and recycling operations involve many stages, and Alcoa needs the support of a workforce of approximately 220 people at its Yennoa site to see the process through.
