Since commencing operation in the 1970s Alcoa Wagerup has sort to acquired properties immediately surrounding the Wagerup Refinery’s operation. In 2001 after consultation with the community the Wagerup Land Management Program was formalised to provide a consistent framework for property purchases.
In December 2013 the Western Australia Minister for Environment gazetted the Environmental Protection (Wagerup Alumina Refinery Noise Emissions) Amendment Approval 2013. In accordance with the conditions of this approval a publicly available report on Alcoa Wagerup’s Land Management Program has been submitted to the Department of Environmental Regulation.
