Increasing Opportunities for Local Business
A new purchasing policy implemented at Alcoa’s operations seeks to add value to the local economy through the use of local suppliers, by helping local suppliers do business with Alcoa and by encouraging suppliers to employ local labour. The efficiency upgrade should provide greater opportunities for local suppliers in Pinjarra and Dwellingup, as well as elsewhere in the region, to secure long-term contracts allowing greater commercial stability.

These initiatives include:

  • consolidation of the supplier base and long term single source relationships
  • invitations to capable local business to bid on every locally supplied or manufactured good or service
  • where possible, bids are structured to enable local supplier participation
  • we will work with local business interest groups to identify and utilise local suppliers
  • on-line bidding is now available for the purchase of goods and services.

Businesses can register their interest as a supplier, or seek more information about supplying the Efficiency Upgrade, by contacting David Lunn on telephone: (08) 9428 5520 fax: (08) 9428 5580 email: pinjarraupgrade@alcoa.com.au.
