The Role of Aluminium
Aluminium is a sustainable metal.

Aluminium is endlessly recyclable… it can be recycled again and again and again.  Did you know...

  • Almost 70 per cent of the aluminium ever produced since 1886 is still in use today.
  • Recycling aluminium saves 95 per cent of the energy it would take to make new metal from bauxite ore.

Worldwide, Alcoa is leading the aluminium industry’s efforts to make aluminium climate neutral.  Recycling and the use of aluminium in transport (lightweighting) has the potential to make aluminium climate neutral by 2017.
