Community Consultation
Alcoa aspires to be the best company in the world and to do this we must be the best neighbour in each community where we operate.
Alcoa is committed to building capacity within our own operations and the communities in which we work to create sustainable operations and sustainable and stronger communities with a shared future.
Stronger communities create opportunities for people and organisations to work together to bring about economic, social and environmental benefits for us all.
For the plant to achieve its aims, it is essential that we consult with the community.
Community Advisory Board The Community Advisory Board (CAB) is a consultative group made up of representatives from the local community, industry neighbours, environment groups and the EPA. Established in 2001, the CAB creates a forum for two-way communication between the smelter and the broader community regarding issues that both Alcoa Point Henry and the Greater Geelong community can work on together. In 2012, meetings will be held on the third Monday of every second month: • Monday 20 February 2012 • Monday 16 April 2012 • Monday 18 June 2012 • Monday 20 August 2012 • Monday 15 October 2012 • Monday 17 December 2012 All meetings will be 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Light refreshments will be served from 6:15pm.
Meetings are held at the Mercure Hotel Geelong. For more information on the Community Advisory Board or any community matter relating to Point Henry, contact the plant’s Community Relations Officer on +61 3 5245 1406.
