Alcoa’s Pinjarra Refinery has had an ISO 14001 certified Environmental Management System (EMS) since 2001. 

The EMS is focused on ensuring compliance with all environmental regulatory requirements, in addition to encouraging continuous environmental performance improvements. 

As part of the EMS, a range of programs are in place which focus on all environmental aspects at the refinery.  These range across the control of air emissions, ground and surface water management, process containment, and waste and land management. 

Risk assessments, rigorous systems and community consultation processes are integral to the EMS.  These programs are developed and managed to the highest standards and within Alcoa’s sustainability framework.
