Polly Farmer Foundation
Alcoa commenced its partnership with the Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation in 2005, with the Partnerships for Success program. This program is aimed at assist promising young aboriginal students reach their potential in academic areas to enable them to progress to higher education, further vocational training or employment with local industry. The program offers a private and supervised environment for students to go to after school to do homework classes, with the support of tutors. As well as having government support and seed funding, the program also has monitoring and measurement systems in place. Alcoa have sponsored a centre based out of the Coodanup Senior High School in Mandurah, with students invited from throughout the region. The Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation. It was founded in 1995 by a group of people who were inspired by Graham Farmer’s vision to improve opportunities for young Australians. They included prominent Australians from indigenous and non-indigenous backgrounds such as Hon Fred Chaney AO, Indigenous educator May O’Brien and former high Court Judge Sir Ronald Wilson.
