NGV Kids
The National Gallery of Victoria recognises the impact art can have on young people and celebrates the involvement of kids in a wide range of activities – from family tours, sessions in the NGV studios, to concerts and talks, films, children's books, activities in the garden and adventurous and inspiring art and design workshops. With Alcoa’s Victorian sites set in rural areas, we saw the potential to take this program beyond metropolitan Melbourne and provide children in rural and regional areas the opportunity to experience the National Gallery of Victoria. Alcoa’s proud partnership of the NGV Kids program has seen the development of the NGV Kids webpage. The new webpage gives children in regional Victoria the opportunity to enjoy the NGV’s activities and interact with the NGV’s educators. The webpage includes "How to make" kits to engage children with art from the NGV collection and special exhibitions. The NGV Kids program also runs a range of activities in the Gallery utilizing a roving “Art Cart” and provides children at the gallery with the opportunity to make art, including activities using aluminium foil! NGV Kids activities are held at the NGV each Sunday during the school term as well as through out all school holidays.
