Future Leaders of Industry
Alcoa has a longstanding commitment to creating opportunities for young people and helping to provide training and development opportunities. Alcoa invests more than $10 million each year in apprenticeships, traineeships and community-based training programs. This investment directly affects more than 20,000 young lives across Australia. Alcoa’s Future Leaders of Industry program in Victoria and the Future Women of Industry program in WA introduce secondary students to career opportunities in the resources and manufacturing industries. As well financial support for their studies, these programs also provide workplace visits, work experience, mentoring and information days. Alcoa also partners with the following organisations with a youth focus.
- The Fairbridge organisation at Pinjarra in WA provides training and development programs for disadvantaged young people.
- The Geelong Regional Vocational Education Council which provides work placements and training opportunities
- The Beacon Foundation helps secondary school students gain work experience, equip themselves for employment and commit to work, training or further study after leaving secondary school.
- Millennium Kids, a non-profit, non-political youth environmental organisation - run by kids, for kids aged 10-25 years
