Bravo! hero Ken Hose

Point Henry’s Ken Hose is Vice President of the Murgheboluc Hall Reserve Committee, the group that manages the Murgheboluc Hall and surrounds and he has just received his fourth Bravo! grant from the Alcoa Foundation.

Ken says he volunteers for a community organisation because that’s what locals do - give back to the community they live in - and for the mateship.

“We are the booking agents for the hall, which is hired out to the community and there are a number of groups who use it regularly,” Ken says.
“It’s also available for family functions.  We also manage the upkeep of the oval – which is used by the Teesdale Cricket Club – and a wetland area behind the oval.”

Ken has worked to improve this area to make it more accessible for camping and other recreational purposes.

Ken’s currently painting the hall which is taking up quite a bit of time and when asked to estimate how many hours a week he volunteers at the hall, his response is “bloody heaps”.
