Bravo! Hero Peter Cook

It’s no wonder Pinjarra employee Peter Cook qualified for a grant from the Alcoa Foundation’s Bravo! program – he volunteers his time as president of both the Pinjarra Basketball Association and the Pinjarra Junior Football club!

Peter nominated the basketball association for the US$250 in 2004, as Alcoa employees can apply for only one grant per year, which recognises them for volunteering more than 50 hours per year to a community organisation. The money will go towards new uniforms for the basketballers.

As well as being president of both clubs, Peter often coaches teams in both competitions.  His volunteer work generally involves assisting the running of the games, coaching and helping with the development of junior players.

“I find I am able to communicate better with my own kids as we are on the same level in these areas,” he said.

Peter has been with Alcoa for five years and is married with three boys aged 12, 15 and 17.

“The opportunities within Alcoa are endless and your limits are only set by yourself,” he said.
