ACTION on the beach
A trampoline frame, various vehicle parts and a mattress were the most unique finds when a group of Alcoans and locals cleaned up the beaches in the Falcon area on Sunday, November 19 2006. The ACTION* (Alcoans Coming Together In Our Neighbourhoods) event, run in partnership with the Falcon branch of Coastcare and the City of Mandurah, resulted in a tonne of rubbish being collected from the beaches and dunes between Falcon Bay south to the Dawesville Channel. Employee Communications Officer, Scott Hansen, said that the idea sprang from the desire to see his local beach in pristine condition for summer. “I knew there were a lot of Alcoans living in the Falcon area that would be keen to assist, so I got in touch with Graeme Dixon, the Falcon Coastcare Cooordinator and Lisa Wray, the City of Mandurah’s Community Landcare Officer, and found they were really keen to go ahead,” said Scott.
