ACTION Point Henry, Friends of Buckley Falls
Point Henry employees willingly endured hot and dusty conditions to assist the Friends of Buckley Falls to create a parkland in the Buckley Falls area. Friends of Buckley Falls are a volunteer conservation group who are often joined by Alcoa volunteers in their environmental restoration work. The 15 employees worked tirelessly to prepare community parkland before planting indigenous tube stock to revegetate land by the Barwon River at Buckley Falls. While the weather wasn’t friendly to volunteers or new plants – with over 30 degree temperatures and a blustery northerly wind – the work continued the long standing association between Buckley Falls and Alcoa. As an Alcoa Foundation ACTION project the Buckley Falls project received a US$3000 grant from the Alcoa Foundation as well as hands-on help from the Alcoa employees.
