Alcoa Curtin Research Centre for Stronger Communities

Launched in July 2003, the Alcoa Research Centre for Stronger Communities at Curtin University of Technology aims to make a practical contribution to the development of stronger communities at all levels of society.

The Centre is the first consolidated effort to undertake research focussed on practical and applied positive impact on community life in Australia.

Based within the Humanities Division at Curtin University of Technology in Western Australia, the Alcoa Research Centre for Stronger Communities builds on the existing relationship between Alcoa and Curtin and provides both organisations with the opportunity to further their already strong commitment to community development.

The Centre’s focus is to provide a multi-disciplinary research environment that encourages coordinated collaborative research to resolve the complexities of the development of stronger communities.

It monitors community trends and provide policy makers, practitioners and researchers with tools and language for creating policies and programs that can improve the quality of life in our communities.
