Best in show for Chief Medical Officer
In May, Alcoa of Australia’s Director of Health and Chief Medical Officer Dr Michael Donoghue received one of the highest accolades awarded by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians of London.
Dr. Donoghue earned the Wilf Howe Memorial Prize for his work demonstrating the benefits of deploying Diphoterine®, a commercially available spray-on treatment for alkali chemical splashes to the skin, at Alcoa’s Western Australian refineries.
The prize recognises an outstanding innovation, initiative or intervention that has delivered a demonstrable health benefit for a defined population.
Dr Donoghue was humbled by the award and said it was one example of the extraordinary quality of work undertaken by Alcoa’s health and safety professionals worldwide.
“Many highly skilled and committed health and safety professionals work hard to deliver high quality programs for our people, to ensure they are provided with excellent standards of occupational health and safety,” he said.
Congratulations to Dr. Donoghue who over many years has contributed greatly to the medical field and to the ongoing success of Alcoa’s health and safety programs.
