Employee Giving - Pay-roll Donation Schemes

Alcoa employees are committed to making a difference in their local communities - continuing to put their hands in their own pockets to make a difference.

Our successful pay-roll donation schemes are helping tens of thousands of disadvantaged people, community groups and health care organisations in the regions that Alcoa operates. These pay-roll donation schemes are in addition to the millions Alcoa and the Alcoa Foundation invest each year on community partnerships and sponsorships in Australia, and the thousands of volunteering hours our employees contribute.

Western Australia - PEACH
In Western Australia, the money donated by our people goes into PEACH which stands for Personnel Employed at Alcoa Charity Help.

PEACH is a trust fund and was an initiative of a group of employees from the Pinjarra Refinery back in 1979. Today it continues to be funded and administered by WA Alcoa employees. Around 1000 employees contribute to PEACH from every pay packet.

As PEACH operates with no overheads, 100% of employees’ contributions are distributed to charitable organisations. Since PEACH began, in excess of $3 million has been distributed to worthy causes.

Does your organisation qualify for PEACH funding?
  • PEACH supports organisations rather than individuals, as this widens the community benefit.
  • Funds are allocated to organisations where maximum benefit can be achieved, with a preference to support the purchase of capital equipment.
  • PEACH gives preference to human and health-care organisations operating in, or providing services to, communities in which Alcoa employees and their families live and work.
  • Potential beneficiaries are required to have ATO endorsement as a deductible gift recipient.

If you would like to know more about PEACH, or if you work for or support a human or health-care charitable organisation which you feel might qualify for PEACH funding, please contact Trish Morris (PEACH President) on 9733 8988 trish.morris@alcoa.com.au.

Victoria - United Way
In Victoria, nearly 50% of our employees at Point Henry and Anglesea participate in a similar initiative, as do our people at Portland Aluminium. The money donated by Victorian employees is distributed to United Way – an organisation providing assistance to disadvantaged children and families. Our employee partnership with United Way has extended over more than 45 years.

Our relationship with United Way has evolved into much more than a traditional sponsorship based purely on financial support.  Importantly, the growth and long standing nature of the partnership has provided invaluable continuity to the not-for-profit sector allowing United Way and others to plan further into the future, rather than only on an annual basis. This ultimately assists more disadvantaged people within the community.

The Alcoa/ United Way partnership supports a range of programs including crisis support for: children, families and individuals; youth at risk; disability services; health and rehabilitation; education and information; aged care programs; and community engagement.
