Mining Alcoa has two bauxite mines in Western Australia’s Darling Range – Huntly and Willowdale.
The Huntly mine, established in the early 1970s to supply the Pinjarra alumina refinery, now also supplies the Kwinana alumina refinery.
The Willowdale mine was established in 1984 and supplies the Wagerup alumina refinery.

In Victoria, Alcoa also mines brown coal on a 7221 hectare mining lease known as the Anglesea Heath.
Our open cut coal mining operations supply the Anglesea Power Station which provides power to the Point Henry aluminium smelter.
The Anglesea Power Station began operations in 1969 and uses about 1.1 million tonnes of brown coal. The coal is used to generate about 40 per cent of the power required by the Point Henry smelter.
