Alcoa at Work
This in-depth operational tour is offered at two locations: Pinjarra and Wagerup.
On both experiences you will see Alcoa’s premier alumina refineries in action. See how Alcoa and Alinta are partnering to power both the refineries and Western Australian homes through cogeneration, see our bauxite residue storage area, as well as bauxite ore milling.
The tour showcases all stages of the Bayer alumina refining process. This amazing technology literally transforms red ore to fine white powder – ready for smelting into shining aluminium.
The tour also includes a visit to either the Huntly or Willowdale bauxite mines where you will see an operational bauxite ore pit and crusher and our world class mine rehabilitation.
Alcoa at Work: Pinjarra alumina refinery and Huntly bauxite mine: This free experience departs the Pinjarra Visitor Centre at 9.30am every Wednesday.
Alcoa at Work: Wagerup alumina refinery and Willowdale bauxite mine: This free experience departs the Waroona Visitor and Information Centre at 10am on the first Friday of every month.
