Alcoa in Australia

PEACH
PEACH (Personnel Employed by Alcoa Charity Help) is a WA based not-for-profit organisation that was started in 1979 by a small group of Alcoa’s Pinjarra refinery employees who wanted to do something for the community.

It quickly took off across all of Alcoa's WA sites and now has over 1000 employees involved.  These employees choose to have money automatically deducted from their wages each payday and the money they raise helps charity organisations across WA buy vital equipment and services to assist thousands of sick and disadvantaged people.

100% of employee contributions are distributed to charity.  This is distributed among community organisations providing services in the areas of welfare, health, family, children, safety, and social improvement.

PEACH celebrated a milestone in 2005, after raising a total of $2 million for charity in 25 years of giving.

For those 25 years, PEACH has funded hundreds of organisations, large and small, including hospitals, rescue services, medical research, St John Ambulance, and support groups for children & youth, the aged, the disabled, the sick and the disadvantaged.

It is one of the largest workplace charity programs in Australia and believed to be the largest in WA.

Alcoa supports PEACH by providing time and resources for employee volunteers to administer the program, payroll deduction services, and also kick-starts the kitty each year with a $10,000 donation.

In 1995 PEACH was recognised with an Advance Australia Award and in 1997 was a finalist in the Premiers Award for its work in Community Services.  In 2006 PEACH is a finalist in the WA Gold Swan Award.  This award acknowledges a voluntary service organization that has demonstrated outstanding concern for the community it serves and delivers that service effectively to improve the lives and opportunities of Western Australians.

PEACH'S MISSION

PEACH aims to make a real beneficial difference to as many people as possible, by supporting as many human care organisations as funding will allow, that are located in or that service those communities in which Alcoa employees and their families live and work.

HOW IS PEACH ADMINISTERED

The PEACH Trust Fund is managed by Board of Administrators who meet monthly to assess applications for funding, and administer the fund’s daily business.

Everyone involved in PEACH are Alcoa employees, and contributors to the fund, and all work in a voluntary capacity.  The administration of PEACH is overseen by a Board of Trustees.

PEACH operates in accordance with its Constitution and Deed of Trust, with its accounts being audited annually by chartered accountants, Price Waterhouse Coopers.
