Victoria’s reliance on brown coal as an energy source means that we all have an obligation to think about how we use electricity in the fight against climate change.
At Alcoa, we use electricity to make the endlessly recyclable product, aluminium.
Aluminium is an essential part of everyday life; it is also part of the solution:
• To global climate change, with global projections for recycling and the use of aluminium in vehicles. More>>>
• To lightweighting the transport industry, as a lightweight metal, aluminium can improve fuel economy, while reducing emissions in transport vehicles. More>>>
• Aluminium is almost endlessly recyclable and Alcoa is the largest recycler of aluminium in Australia. More>>>
• Through energy efficiency and greenhouse initiatives. Since 1990, Alcoa’s Victorian smelting operations have reduced direct emissions by more than 60%. More >>>
Alcoa Anglesea is committed to continually improving its environmental performance. Our activities in this area are detailed in our Environmental Improvement Plan (EIP).
