Community Consultation

Alcoa is committed to building capacity within our own operations and the communities in which we work to create sustainable operations and sustainable and stronger communities with a shared future. Stronger communities create opportunities for people and organisations to work together to bring about economic, social and environmental benefits for all of us.
To help Portland Aluminium achieve its aims it is essential the plant consults with the community.
At Alcoa Portland Aluminium a Community Advisory Network (CAN) has been established. The key function of the CAN is to create two-way communication between the operations and the broader community in respect to issues that both Portland Aluminium and the Portland community can work on together.
Membership of the CAN includes local representation from various community groups, businesses, local government and representatives from Portland Aluminium. The CAN is chaired by an independent person.
