A challenging and exciting opportunity exists for a technical professional to join Alcoa World Alumina’s Global Refining Technology Delivery Group (TDG) based at the Kwinana Refinery, Western Australia.
TDG comprises more than 80 highly qualified scientists, engineers, managers and support staff, and supplies technical support and new and improved alumina refining technology, across a challenging range of process areas, to 9 refineries worldwide. You will part of a small team dedicated to delivering transformational / leading edge technology innovation and development, in order to bring to implementation substantial improvements in alumina refining.
As a member of this transformational technology team you will be accountable for planning and implementing chemistry based research and development programs aimed at improving the efficiency, productivity and product quality of the AWA alumina refineries. You will complement this team with strong technical evaluation and interpretation skills, with the flexibility to undertake all research tasks to achieve results. Tertiary qualification in Chemistry or Extractive Metallurgy is essential, and experience in chemical plant (Bayer process) environment highly desirable. Job Requirements Ideally, we are seeking applications from candidates with experience at a senior level, but candidates with varying levels of experience are encouraged to apply. To be successful, you will posses a relevant degree in science or a related discipline, preferably at postgraduate level, and have a strong desire for ongoing learning and development. You will also have practical experience in extractive metallurgy or process chemistry. With well developed organisational skills, you will have a proactive, innovative outlook and practical problem solving skills. You will also be a collaborative team player and have an overriding commitment to values driven behaviour and safe working practices.
