MAINTENANCE SUPPORT PERSON
KWINANA REFINERY, Australia

We have an opportunity for a qualified mechanical tradesperson to take on the position of Maintenance Support Person at our Kwinana Refinery.

This position offers an excellent career development opportunity within the planning and mechanical maintenance fields.  This position is based on a 9 day fortnight, 36 hours per week. 
 
In this role you will have responsibility for the development and delivery of effective work packs (detailed job scopes) and resource management within our Operations Centres by interpreting and resourcing the maintenance weekly plan, taking into account major overhauls and projects.  The position design requires the successful applicant to spend a small percentage of time utilizing trade skills in the field.  The position is part of a standardized 3 tier planning process.
 
Specific requirements include:
  • All the responsibilities and skills described for the Advanced Tradesperson Level 1, Level 2 & 3 as described in the AMWU Agreement (2005) (WAO .  In addition
  • Assist in the efficient and effective execution of scheduled and unscheduled work by organising the necessary preparation work required.
  • Work within a crew or area to maximize efficiencies in the area of preparation & planning associated with breakdown, routine and major equipment overhauls.
  • Ensures all necessary labour, tools, equipment and specialist advice are organized in advance
  • Maximises the effectiveness of the computerised maintenance system
  • Ensures all necessary spare parts are organized and pre-positioned
  • Identifies and highlights improvement opportunities and initiates action where appropriate
  • Establishes and maintains a technical library of information for maintenance area personnel
  • Enters performance data in the eAM system on a daily basis
  • Prepares SWIs, workpacks, Maintenance Manuals and JSAs for maintenance activities
  • Organises equipment repairs and warranty work
  • Liaises with internal & external supplies\Contributes to the crews and area and meeting their maintenance performance targets.
 
The successful applicant must hold a Mechanical Trades Qualification and be able to demonstrate:-
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Commitment to safety
  • Computer literacy
  • Initiative, self motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision
It would be advantageous for the incumbent to have
  • Knowledge of or experience with planning and scheduling system
  • Experience using software planning tools.
