The Pinjarra Refinery is part of Alcoa of Australia's three-refinery system in Western Australia.
Situated just 10 minutes from the town of Pinjarra, located within the Shire of Murray, and 30 minutes from the coastal city of Mandurah, the Pinjarra Refinery is a major employer with over 1,000 employees.
It is one of the world’s largest refineries with a capacity of 4.2 million tonnes per year.
After undergoing a major upgrade, it now delivers a substantial reduction in energy intensity per tonne of alumina produced.
Combined with a co-generation partnership with Alinta, the refinery also now achieves significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions in addition to improvements in the use of natural resources.
