Alcoa announces business unit, division name changes

Independence, OH — Alcoa announced a new name of its investment cast and forged products business unit — Alcoa Power and Propulsion.

Serving the aerospace, defense, energy and industrial markets, Alcoa Power and Propulsion products are primarily used in jet engines and industrial gas turbines. "We believe that our new name identifies us by the markets and customers we serve rather than the products we make," said Raymond B. Mitchell, president of the business unit.  "The name links us to our 'power' customers in the energy and industrial markets and our 'propulsion' customers in the aerospace and defense side of our business."

Additionally, the two divisions that make up this business unit were renamed. Alcoa Howmet, formerly Howmet Castings, recognizes the combined brand strength of the two organizations. And its Aerospace & Industrial Products division is now Alcoa Forged and Cast Products.

“Our new name reaffirms our position as an organization that has built an excellent reputation in the power and propulsion markets, based on our high technology products and services to our sophisticated customers around the world,” said Mitchell.  Alcoa Power and Propulsion is a global leader in airfoil and structural investment castings, forged structural parts, and forged aircraft wheels.  The business unit employs more than 11,000 people throughout 29 worldwide locations.
