João José San Martin
Vice President – Human Resources
João José San Martin joined Alcoa in 1984 and is currently the vice president, human resources, Alcoa Power and Propulsion. During the span of his extensive and international career at Alcoa, João has contributed to the majority of Alcoa’s businesses, including Castings, Extrusions, Flat Rolled Products, Packaging, Primary Metals, and Electrical & Electronic Systems. João also held Training and Development positions in the Alcoa Corporate office in São Paulo, Brazil.
In his present role, João serves as a strategic partner to the Alcoa Power and Propulsion Leadership Team and provides human resource leadership to our HR professionals and operational leaders located throughout APP’s global operations. He also participates in the Alcoa EPS Group HR Lead Team.
Prior to his appointment to the APP business in 2009, João served as vice president, human resources, Alcoa Electrical and Electronic Systems, overseeing HR functions in 30 global locations and as the head of human resources for the Alcoa Plastic business in South America with responsibility for more than 35 regional locations.
A native of Brazil, João received a psychology degree from the University of Taubate; an advanced degree in social and labor psychology from the Sedes Sapientiae Institute; and an advanced degree in human resources management from the National Institution of Post Graduation.
