Gail Cole was appointed Vice President of Quality for Alcoa Power and Propulsion in January 2013.  In this role, Gail leads APP’s Quality Initiatives across Aerospace, IGT, and Structural Castings and Specialty Products business segments.   APP's Quality initiatives include implementing the APQP/PPAP process for New Product Introduction, Quality Clinics for improvement and reduction of delivered product, Successive Check systems for improved quality of manufactured product, new inspection technologies such as Digital Radiography and Whitelight dimensional inspection, and Quality Risk Management though Quality System and Process Audits. 
 
Beginning in 2001, Gail served as Director of Technical Services within APP’s Operhall Research Center in Whitehall.   Technical Services provides a wide variety of material testing, calibration, failure analysis and engineering services to the APP business segment as well as to outside customers.  This group also provides the administrative services for all operating manuals and procedures for the business segments.
 
In additional to a number of engineering assignments within Technical Services, Gail has held plant metallurgist and engineering management roles within the LaPorte Casting and Whitehall Casting plants, respectively.   Gail also held the position of Department Head of Materials Laboratory at Teledyne CAE (Toledo OH) which manufactured small gas turbine engines for aerospace applications.

Gail holds a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from Purdue University, and master’s degree in Manufacturing Management from Kettering University (formerly GMI).  Gail also holds patents in Ultra Low Sulfur Superalloy Castings and Methods of Making (July 1999) and Glass Forming Die and Method (September 2006).
