Bob Baker

Bob Baker was appointed Vice President, Engineering and Continuous Improvement in September 2013. Under Bob’s leadership, APP’s process owners and ABS teams develop and implement a synergistic and holistic technical and manufacturing continuous improvement strategy across APP. Bob also leads many of APP’s cost reduction programs including energy reduction, material efficiency, and revert increase initiatives, among others.
Previously, Bob was a Technical Director in the Business Excellence Group, overseeing the implementation of Process Management and working with our process owners and engineering teams at each APP location to lead and drive efforts to reduce scrap and rework. This is an area where we have seen significant improvement over the last 4 years. Bob has twenty-nine years of experience with APP (Howmet) and has held key operational and technical roles in the company, including Plant Manager for the Hampton, Virginia facility (2002-2010).
Bob has a Bachelor’s degree in Material Science from the University of Pittsburgh and is on the Board of Directors for New Horizons Governors School and VersAbility Resources, a non-profit organization promoting workforce inclusion of the disabled.
