Alcoa Dura-Bright® Forged Aluminum Wheels Made Standard On 2004 Ford Gas-Fueled, Class A Motor Home Chassis

December 2, 2003
CLEVELAND, Ohio – December 2, 2003 – Alcoa Wheel & Forged Products’ patented Dura-Bright® aluminum wheels are now standard equipment on the outer wheel positions of Ford Motor Co.’s 22,000-pound gross vehicle rated F-53 Super Duty Class A motor home chassis.

Ford launched its redesigned gas-fueled chassis as part of its 2004 model year offering, which also includes a change to larger, 22.5-inch wheels.

Alcoa Dura-Bright® aluminum wheels resist corrosion and eliminate the need for polishing. First made available in fall 1999 in the transit bus industry, Dura-Bright® wheels offer a high-quality shine with a spray of soap and water. They’re available for a broad range of applications, including truck and trailer, RV and motor home, and bus and motor coach.

“By making Dura-Bright® wheels standard, Ford recognizes the value that motor home owners place in aluminum wheels that not only provide better ride and handling, but also maintain their shine with little effort,” said Merrick Murphy, market manager, recreational vehicle wheels and accessories for Alcoa.

In addition to faster, easier cleaning and maintenance, Alcoa Dura-Bright® wheels exhibit all the other advantages of aluminum wheels, including one-piece, forged-in strength from the industry leader; better dimensional control for improved ride; better heat dissipation for extended tire and brake life; less weight for increased payload and greater fuel efficiency; and higher resale value.

Alcoa Dura-Bright® wheels are not coated, but have a patented treatment that penetrates the aluminum itself and lasts for years.
