National Geographic Channel Visits Alcoa Wheels for “Ultimate Factories” Filming

The film crew for “Ultimate Factories” featured on the
National Geographic Channel, recently visited Alcoa Auto Wheels to capture the manufacturing flow path for the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce wheels as part of a future episode highlighting the entire production process for Lamborghini’s latest super sports car.

The crew captured Alcoa’s process of taking billet aluminum through a finished forged wheel as part of a larger feature on the entire production process for the SuperVeloce.

The film crew focused on Alcoa wheels since they are such a critical component for Lamborghini to reduce the SuperVeloce by 220 pounds from the Murcielago. Weight savings from the forged aluminum wheels increases performance, including acceleration, steering input, suspension response and braking.
“Ultimate Factories: Lamborghini”, featuring the Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce fitted with Alcoa forged aluminum wheels, is scheduled to air on the
National Geographic Channel later this year. Stay tuned to future Alcoa Auto Wheels eNewsletters for programming details.
