Alcoa Aftermarket Wheel Group Launches Seventeen-Inch Classic Dually Fitments
Alcoa’s Aftermarket Wheel Group recently announced an extension of their Classic aftermarket catalog to include seventeen-inch fitments for ¾-ton and 1-ton trucks.

New Classic dually wheels are now available in 17”x6.5” for front and rear fitments for 8-lug dually pick-up truck applications. Each wheel is offered in Alcoa’s Classic styling with a premium polished finish.

“Heavy duty truck applications are the heart of our aftermarket wheel business and dually pick-up truck owners have trusted the strength and durability of Alcoa forged aluminum wheels for their heaviest loads,” stated Gary Santavicca, Marketing Manager, Alcoa Aftermarket Automotive Wheels. “We are now able to offer seventeen-inch fitments for current and recent model dually pick-up trucks.”

Designed, engineered and tested for heavy load applications, the new seventeen-inch Classic dually wheels carry a class-leading 3200 lb. load rating. The one-piece forged aluminum design carries an unprecedented lifetime limited structural warranty.

Alcoa is supporting this launch with targeted print and on-line advertising placements as well as sales tools to support Alcoa approved wheel retailers and select auto dealers nationwide.

National Geographic Channel Visits Alcoa Wheels for “Ultimate Factories” Filming
The film crew for “Ultimate Factories” featured on the National Geographic Channel, recently visited Alcoa Auto Wheels to capture the manufacturing flow path for the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce wheels as part of a future episode highlighting the entire production process for Lamborghini’s latest super sports car.

The crew captured Alcoa’s process of taking billet aluminum through a finished forged wheel as part of a larger feature on the entire production process for the SuperVeloce.

The film crew focused on Alcoa wheels since they are such a critical component for Lamborghini to reduce the SuperVeloce by 220 pounds from the Murcielago. Weight savings from the forged aluminum wheels increases performance, including acceleration, steering input, suspension response and braking.

“Ultimate Factories: Lamborghini”, featuring the Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce fitted with Alcoa forged aluminum wheels, is scheduled to air on the National Geographic Channel later this year. Stay tuned to future Alcoa Auto Wheels eNewsletters for programming details.
Tooling & Production Magazine Covers Alcoa’s Wheel Manufacturing Prowess
Tooling & Production Magazine recently ran an article detailing Alcoa’s approach to forged aluminum wheel machining and how attention to detail is being utilized by premium automobile manufacturers like Automobili Lamborghini.

“When Automobili Lamborghini decided it wanted lightweight wheels for its $350,000+ super sports car, the Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce, it turned to Alcoa Auto Wheels – and the engineering behind the forged aluminum wheels enabled a 20 percent weight savings over a comparable cast aluminum wheel.”
