President Alcoa Energy Assets & European Region
Simon Baker was named President for Alcoa's Europe Region in June 2014. Simon works closely with Alcoa businesses to further develop the Company's interests in Europe through interactions with government and regulatory officials, industry associations and other stakeholders. In January 2015 he also took over global oversight of Alcoa’s energy assets and responsibility for energy matters within the corporation.
Simon joined Alcoa in 2006 as Energy Director responsible for formulating energy purchasing strategies, buying energy and contract management he managed Alcoa's energy professionals based in Spain, Italy and Norway before stepping into his global role.
Prior to coming to Alcoa, Simon was Director of Business Development for the European operations of International Power, responsible for merger and acquisition activities, commercial development, and strategic partnerships. In previous positions, his roles included nuclear power engineer, energy trader, fuel purchasing manager, sales and marketing director, vice president structured trading and business development director.
He has a bachelor’s degree in physics from Liverpool University, a Management diploma from Oxford University, and an MBA from the Bradford University School of Management in the UK. He is a British citizen and currently lives in Switzerland.
