Hole Fill Requirements UNIMATIC® Blind Rivets are expanded by mechanical means. Expansion is accomplished by action of the spindle with an extruding land being drawn into the rivet sleeve. The rivets when expanded shall meet a minimum requirement of 0.0005 inch over the maximum hole diameters specified in MS33522, Type ll. The test procedure is to install rivets into split steel test plates of the proper thickness with the oversize hole. After split plates are removed, measure the expanded shank. (Reference NAS1900 Paragraph 3.3.2 & 4.4.2) This requirement is for fasteners up to and including grip lengths equal to the rivet diameter.
Sheet Take-up Requirements UNIMATIC® Blind Rivets are capable of closing minimum sheet gaps up to the limits specified in the table below. When tested following the procedures of NAS1900 Paragraph 3.7 & 4.4.4 using an aluminum fixture as specified in figure 8 of NAS1900.
