Alcoa-SIE Cargo Conversions Relocates Headquarters to Kansas City
"This move to Kansas City underscores our commitment to the cargo conversions business for which we recently awarded a significant contract to American Airlines' KCI maintenance base," said Gary Batey, president of ASCC.

"By moving our offices to Kansas City we can better serve our customers in a number of ways," he added. "Kansas City has the ideal mix of convenient location, talented workforce, and business friendly government that we need to move our business forward. Being close to the actual conversion work will also allow us to react more quickly to our customers' needs and forge the strongest possible relationships with our local and regional suppliers, especially American Airlines."

Alcoa announced in July it would begin converting a fleet of Boeing 757-200 passenger aircraft into cargo freighters at American Airlines' overhaul base at Kansas City International Airport, employing 24 technicians at the overhaul base.

"We're very pleased that Alcoa-SIE Cargo Conversions has chosen Kansas City International Airport as its primary base of operations," said Mark VanLoh, director, Kansas City Aviation Department. "Working with American Airlines, the State of Missouri and our other partners, we have been very aggressive in attracting new partners and creating new jobs on and around KCI."

Starting in early 2007, ASCC will occupy office space adjacent to the Kansas City International Airport as well as space inside the American Airlines maintenance facility on the airport grounds.

"This is exciting news for Missouri. I am elated that Alcoa SIE Cargo Conversions has decided to relocate their headquarters to Kansas City International Airport and partner with American Airlines. Alcoa will bring high quality, family-supporting jobs to the area and provide an economic boost to our entire state," said Missouri Governor Matt Blunt.

The state of Missouri provided incentives for the move. The decision will bring 30 aerospace industry professionals to Kansas City.

"Alcoa is a respected name across the world," said Bob Marcusse, president and CEO of the Kansas City Area Development Council. "Establishing the company's cargo conversionheadquarters in Kansas City is significant to our region. The quality of jobs and work to be preformed for this Fortune 100 company here is noteworthy. We welcome Alcoa SIE Cargo Conversions to our metro."
