Covering 89 acres and housing 3,000 employees, the FedEx Express World Headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee is a true reflection of the innovative company it houses. Architect Hnedak Bobo Group designed a campus of eight interconnected buildings with sharply projecting aluminum fins, exterior walls of aluminum and glass, unified skyways and a serpentine lake to pay homage to the airplane — the workhorse of the company.
As befitting a company built on making quick deliveries, the project carried a rigorous timetable — and tight budgetary constraints. Hnedak Bobo Group chose Reynobond ACM based on its quality appearance, superior availability, proven durability and minimal maintenance requirements. Fabricator BHN Corporation used more than 115,000 square feet of Reynobond for the exterior walls, eyebrows at the atriums and infill panels glazed into the curtainwall. Alcoa Architectural Products’ new Colorweld 300XL Anodic Series coatings allowed the Reynobond to match the anodized finish of the more than 170,000 pounds of aluminum used throughout the campus.
